What is a delivery note
A delivery note is the document that accompanies goods at the moment they're delivered. It confirms which products were delivered, in what quantity and condition, and serves as proof that the delivery was carried out correctly.
What a delivery note is for
It lets the client check, at the moment of delivery, that they've received what they ordered in the agreed condition. It also serves as internal control for whoever is shipping the goods, and as the basis for drawing up the corresponding invoice later.
What information it should include
The sender's and recipient's details, delivery date, a description and quantity of the products delivered, a delivery note number, and space for the recipient's signature of acceptance.
Does a delivery note replace an invoice
No. A delivery note confirms the physical delivery of goods, but it has no tax validity on its own. Typically, one or several delivery notes are later grouped into a single periodic invoice (monthly, for example).
