What information must an invoice include

For an invoice to be valid, it must include a set of minimum details. Here's the complete list, organised by section.

Issuer's details

Full name or business name.

Tax ID / VAT number.

Registered address.

Contact details (email, phone).

Client's details

Full name or business name.

Address.

In some cases, their tax ID (especially if the client is a business).

Details of the document itself

Sequential invoice number.

Issue date.

Due date (optional but recommended).

Transaction details

A description of each product or service.

Quantity and unit price.

The VAT rate applied to each line.

Subtotal, VAT amount and total.

Recommended, though not always mandatory, details

Payment terms (method and deadline).

Bank account number if paying by transfer.

Any additional notes relevant to the client.
